Paul Lemmon the last 10 months

August 12th 2010

Winning the second prize was quite unexpected, but a huge encouragement. It boosted my motivation considerably and also endorsed the direction I’d started to take as a painter, which I think has pushed me further in my development and spurred me on to be more daring and think bigger.

It’s been my most successful period so far having had the chance to show work in New York with The Art Movement and the opportunity for a very long and big show in The Avenue restaurant in Piccadilly, featuring the biggest pieces I’ve ever attempted. Not only was this a physical challenge in terms of producing and handling 8ft canvases, but it forced an evolution in the way I work simply because of the size of materials needed and the way that the paint had to be applied.
